Belly Dance Hafla

I occasionally play darbuka for the Buckleton Belly Dance School, supporting classes and events with a mix of improvised rhythms like maqsum, malfuf, and baladi, as well as composed solos. Sometimes, I simply accompany recorded music with light drumming.

Recently, I had the pleasure of drumming for a workshop with Silvia Martinelli from Italy, organised by Sue Baker. The session went very well and was followed that evening by a hafla where individual belly dancers had the opportunity to perform.

Aside from a piece with Sue during the hafla, I had time to enjoy the performances, and take photos of the dancers, which are featured in the gallery here.
